Spurs Lose, DeJuan Blair Looks Promising
October 7th, 2009 | by Brian |
I know it’s only one relatively meaningless pre-season game, but I just have to say that DeJuan Blair looks promising. He played 22 minutes off the bench last night and put up 16 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, including eight offensive boards. If he can do half of that in the regular season then we are in for a treat. I’m anxious to see how he does against better defenders and post players.
On the flip side, the Spurs lost, but Duncan, Parker, Finley, McDyess and Ratliff sat out this one. Ginobili started and played about 14 minutes. He finished with four points on 1-of-4 shooting and had two turnovers. Not quite what we’re looking for from Manu, but as long as he gets these kinds of games out of the way now then it’s cool. Matt Bonner (14 points, four three-pointers) and George Hill (15 points, four assists) looked pretty good last night as well, but Ian Mahinmi was atrocious going 1-of-6 from the field with three turnovers before fouling out in 17 minutes of action. That’s not gonna get him off the bench any time soon. Richard Jefferson also started and had six points in 15 minutes.
