Parker's Feet Continue to Betray Him

Here We Go Again....

Most people need to land on someone else’s foot to destroy their ankles, but not Tony Parker. He can roll his ankles at will! Already playing through plantar fasciitis, Tony rolled his ankle yet again in the Spurs victory over the Hawks. This is the same ankle he rolled in the Portland game in the beginning of the season that caused him to miss two games. It was particularly crushing since the Spurs were dominating for most of the game taking a 22-point lead into halftime. They also only committed one turnover in the first half (thanks again, Tony). The X-rays were negative, but he is going to be re-evaluated today and we should know more about his status today or tomorrow. He may be out for a minute though. Expect George Hill’s stock to rise as he will most likely start at point guard now. He was already starting at shooting guard, but now he may have more scoring opportunities and assists. Roger Mason may get the nod at shooting guard. It would be nice to see him finally get a start again.

As for the game, after the Spurs took a 66-44 halftime lead, they let the Hawks back in it during the second half and the lead was down to nine midway through the 4th quarter, but they managed to hang on for a 105-90 win. Tim Duncan shot 25% from the field (5-of-20) but finished with 21 points, 27 rebounds, and six assists. DeJuan Blair came off the bench and had four points, nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 16 minutes. Antonio McDyess started at center. For some reason my first thought was that they wanted to showcase him a little more for potential trades. Maybe I am reading too much into it though. He actually finished with 17 points, four rebounds, and a block. As for RJ, he finished with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting, five rebounds, and three assists. Not bad, but still uninspiring. Popovich’s response to the Amare Stoudemire trade rumor was funny though, even if he may just be playing dumb.

What the heck is Yahoo?” Popovich said. “Is it one of those computer things? Is that like Twittering?

“It’s that time of year, I guess. Trade deadline. Everybody’s going to come up with something.”

Of course he doesn’t know what Yahoo is.
